Pascoe Triumphs in Thrilling AutoKlene Super Sedan Grand National at Hobart
The AutoKlene Super Sedan Grand National delivered two huge nights of speedway action at AutoKlene Hobart Raceway over the weekend, culminating in a dramatic 50-lap feature race that saw Queensland Champion Brad Pascoe claim a hard-fought victory.
A stellar field of 32 Super Sedans from Tasmania, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia converged on the Hobart clayway for one of the most anticipated speedway events of the 2026 season. With strong interstate representation and Tasmania’s best defending home soil, expectations were high — and the racing did not disappoint.
Australian Champion Joel Berkley (A1) and Tasmanian Champion Callum Harper (T1) led the field to green for the Grand National A-Main, with Berkley starting from pole position and Harper alongside on the outside front row. Berkley got the jump at the start and immediately went to work, carving through traffic with ease. For the opening 18 laps, Berkley looked unstoppable holding a commanding lead and looking every bit a potential Grand National winner.
However, the complexion of the race changed dramatically on lap 18 when Berkley became tangled with a lapped car, bringing his impressive run to an abrupt end and ending his pursuit of victory.
On the ensuing restart, Brad Pascoe (Q1) assumed control at the front and only a few laps into the restart further drama unfolded when V35 Brock Atkins threw it into Turn 3, tangling with race leader Brad Pascoe. The incident unfortunately brought an end to the night for the Ian Boetcher Race Parts backed machine of Atkins, while Pascoe was able to continue following the stoppage. On the second restart it was Callum Harper challenging Pascoe for the lead on the outside.
Despite sustained pressure, Pascoe showed his skills secure a memorable AutoKlene Super Sedan Grand National victory.
Harper pushed right to the chequered flag to finish a strong second, while Ellis Dickenson (T29) completed the podium after a solid drive.
